As a stylist I see many wardrobes, and have noted we often select clothes that we like but are often unaware of what actually suits our body shape and flatters us.

Wearing the right clothes for your bodyshape is about accentuating your assets and cleverly styling the quirky areas. Which means you look slimmer and feel fabulous in your clothes!

The question is what is your bodyshape?  What should you or should you not be wearing this Spring/Summer?

Must haves for your Bodyshape this Season!

• Pear body shape: You have a small upper body, defined waist and curvy full hips and thighs. Must have: Trench/Mac double breasted coat. A chic piece to balance out your proportion this Spring.

• Hourglass body shape: You are well proportioned! Your hips and your shoulders are balanced and in proportion and you have a defined waist line! Must have: A thin coloured belt is a great piece to accentuate your defined waist and inject colour. Looks stunning on a fitted or tailored dress.

• Athletic/boyish body shape: Your shoulders, waist and hips are all the same parallel width. You have no waist definition. Must have: Silk loose fitting blouse. A stylish piece that complements jeans and trousers this season.

• Apple/Top heavy body shape: You are well endowed on top with bigger chest, back or shoulders in proportion to your waist and hips. Must have: Tired long or a lined skirt. A good piece to balance out your proportions. Best worn with a plain low neck t-shirt or top.

• Tall body shapes: You are tall if you are over 5’8 in height. You have longer limbs particularly your arms and legs. Must have: Cropped turn up chino trousers. Breathable comfortable trousers for those casual leisurely weekends.

• Petite body shapes: You have small body frame and are a maximum height of 5’4ft. Must have: Cropped Denim jacket. An essential piece for your causal wardrobe this Spring/Summer, perfect with dresses.

I recently came back from Sunny Marbella and was totally blown away by the Women. From 16-80 year olds the women were stylish, well groomed and epitomised European elegance. I honestly didn’t see a woman badly dressed, they were all manicured and pedicured. They dressed in the most beautiful dresses and sandals with not a hair out of place.
I have been truly challenged to get all of us looking and feeling our best this Autumn/Winter!

‘Joy always hits the mark. I needed a particular dress and hat for the Royal Enclosure at Ascot. I wanted to look stunning – but I had a budget. Needless to say she found a stunning Ralph Lauren dress (much cheaper than expected), matching hat, jewellery all under budget. So I blew the rest of this gorgeous handbag but inexpensive handbag, which not only completed the outfit – has completed my summer wardrobe!’

‘Very nervous about having someone delve through my cupboard telling me my favourite dress was the wrong style, colour and cut! Once that bit was done it was great and I have not looked back.
