3 C’s of Dressing for #WFH

With the chancellor’s budget announcement last month, it looks like most of us will be working from home until September at the earliest.

Here are 3C’s of styling to consider when dress for working from home:

Colour. Comfort. Confidence!

  • Colour! Styling always starts with Colour. I love wearing happy cheery and uplifting colours and I encourage my clients to embrace colour too. 😉 God knows we need it with over a year in this pandemic.
  • Comfort is all about the cut and texture of the fabric. Breathable natural fabrics like wool, cotton, cashmere and silk are great, especially if you perspire a lot.  I also ensure the clothes I select for myself and clients flatter the body shape. So, I feel super comfortable wearing it from morning to night and my clients do too.
  • Confidence! It starts and ends with confidence for me and I try to impart that in my clients too. It’s so important to adorn our bodies in clothes that enable us to exude confidence inside out. If it doesn’t make me feel good, I won’t wear it and certainly won’t select it for my clients either. Confidence is everything!

I’ve spent hours Online Styling clients for their working-from-home clothes and thankfully they are not joggers or leggings. 😉

So, the next time you are thinking of what to buy or wear working from home, remember the 3’Cs:

Colour. Comfort. Confidence!

Yes, the face of fashion has changed in the last 8 months. Shopping habits have evolved but people are still shopping. As the seasons change, we need to update our wardrobe, purchase working from home attire, knitwear, casual pieces and warm outwear. There has been a massive increase in online shopping, so I pivoted my business to adapt and meet the ever growing need to work virtually.

As a trained personal stylist, I work with you to fill the gaps in your wardrobe for the season. I select clothes for you online that fit and flatter you, ensuring they complement your bodyshape, colouring and lifestyle. For best results, have your colours and bodyshape analysed prior (Both services are also available virtually)

Benefits of online shopping:

  • You are in the comfort of your home, so less stress and time traveling and exposure to the virus
  • There are more sizes available online than in the stores
  • Access to a wider variety of brands and styles shopping online
  • Easy delivery to your home and collection for returns

How Online shopping works:

  • Simply send me your shopping wish list to Style@potential-u.co.uk
  • I shop online for you in increments of: 5 selections £100, 10 selections £200, 15 selections £300, 20 selections £400 etc

Wardrobe Spring Clean!

The one thing I’ve been asked most during this lock-down, is how to declutter your wardrobe while #stayingathome. Now’s a great time to show your wardrobe some TLC by detoxing it.

Without further ado, here are my top tips of how to efficiently declutter your wardrobe:

Bring out all your Spring/Summer clothes, shoes and accessories.

You’re going to need to be objective and very decisive when reviewing your wardrobe.

  • Ask yourself a few questions:
  • Do you like the item of clothing, shoes, accessories? Does it fit and flatter you? If the clothes are more than 1 size too big or small, please release them. (Holding onto clothes that don’t fit you, does nothing for your self-esteem)
  • Does the colour suit you? Are they your best colours?
  • How do you feel wearing the clothes? Are you comfortable in the clothes?
  • Is it dated?
  • If your answers to any of the above is no, then it’s time to let them go!
  • Create 4 piles to sort out your wardrobe: Keep, Sell, Give, Charity:
  • Keep pile are for clothes you love, that fit you well and make you feel good.
  • Sell high-end pieces that no longer fit or you like, that are in great condition.
  • Give clothes and accessories to friends or family members who you know will love them.
  • Charity pile for unwanted clothes in good condition that can go to another home.

Bag the Sell, Give and Charity piles and make the necessary arrangements….

Rearrange your keep pile in your wardrobe by occasion: Work, casual wear and special occasion.

*Remember, the aim of decluttering your wardrobe is that you have a capsule wardrobe of clothes you love to wear!
