How to create a style that lasts a decade.

A warm welcome to February.

Yves Saint Laurent said it best: “Fashion fades, style is eternal!”

With that in mind, I have some practical style tips that will help you confidently create a timeless style that lasts a decade:

10 years in Style!

  • Embrace your Uniqueness.

You are unique; that is your power!

We live in a social media age where everyone is trying to look the same, but true beauty is being authentically you. Our quirks make us interesting. How boring would it be if we all looked the same? Accept yourself ‘flaws and all’ because perfection is a myth. Bin comparison this decade and remember; the beauty of YOU is that no one is like you; so, embrace YOU.

  • The Power of Colour

Wearing colour not only lifts your mood, it adds a beautiful natural glow to your face. Steer clear of wearing dark dreary hues that drain the colour from your face. There is a rainbow of beautiful colours that will brighten and lift your face naturally. This decade wear more colour! I promise you will look and feel better.

  • Body Beautiful

With the rise in cosmetic surgery and body ’enhancements’, there is no better time to swim against the tide and love the skin we are in. Whether you are a size 8 or 18, tall, petite, athletic, pear shaped, or curvy, you are beautiful! I have styled over three thousand people in over 12 years as a personal stylist and I am yet to meet a client I can’t style and help set on a journey of body confidence. Dressing confidently is about understanding your bodyshape and styling it in clothes that flatter and accentuate your shape.  Truth is, none of us will be how we were 20, 30 years ago or like celebrities who have assistance at their disposal. Accept and love your body as you are now. I hope the next time you look in the mirror you see how truly and uniquely beautiful you are.

  • Release!

Marie Kondo – tidying expert and author – encourages us to let go of anything that doesn’t spark joy. I’d like to add to that list: Let go of anything you haven’t worn in two years. Let go of anything that doesn’t fit or flatter you. Release clothes, shoes and accessories that no longer serve a purpose in your current lifestyle. That dress you wore when you were two sizes smaller does nothing for your confidence, so let it go! Let go of the past and embrace who you are today. We hold on to so much stuff that clutters our wardrobe taking up precious space, release them.  Our body is the only house we live in permanently. It’s so important you clothe yourself in pieces that serve you and lift your spirit. Let go and release anything that doesn’t. Less is truly more!

  • Invest.

True style is timeless. Invest in quality pieces you can wear for at least 5 to 10 years. Durable pieces you can wear again and again that don’t date or fall apart.

Timeless pieces are kinder to the environment, because when you buy well, you buy less; which increases the cost per wear.

Avoid fast fashion, its disposable and the quality and manufacturing isn’t kind.

This decade I encourage you to; Invest in yourself – Invest in your style.
